      Pippa is a service design masters graduate, behavioural science masters graduate and an Agency Fund Fellow who has spent the last ten years designing technology services for social impact in the global south. Pippa is Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Turn.io, that chat platform for social impact. Pippa sets the organisation’s strategy and ensures that the Turn.io chat product enables teams to deliver effective health and education support to vulnerable people at scale. As the former Head of Strategy and Experience Design for Praekelt.org (now Reach Digital Health), Pippa led a team of digital strategists, service designers, content strategists and researchers who designed mobile programmes for NGOs, multilaterals and other social impact organisations across low and middle income countries globally.

      Co-Founder at Jem

      Caroline van der Merwe is the Co-Founder and COO of Jem, an HR Technology startup focused on digitising HR for frontline workers through WhatsApp. She is passionate about digital inclusion and using technology for impact. Before starting Jem, she spent eight years building employee engagement and behaviour-change programmes for businesses across sub-saharan Africa. At Jem, she leads the product development and customer success teams, creating innovative products for HR teams. Caroline holds an MBA from UCT Graduate School of Business and a Masters in Management from Yale University.

She believes that the world is at a time more than ever to really re-think how we approach technology to be more reflective of an equitable society.


      Lisa is the Founder of Citizen Code, an African Founded Technology Company interested in building meaningful solutions by Africa for Africa & she is the Director of Technology & Product for GirlEffect.org. She had previously spent a large portion of her career at Praekelt.org building Products to improve the lives of people in the global majority, she worked with the biggest E-Commerce Retailer in Sub-Saharan Africa in Designing & Developing their Internal Technology Products & have spent time in the Startup world on a bootstrapped South African automated payments management systems.


      Lisa is personally committed to making the technology industry a reflection of a more equal community, through initiatives that I have started in Africa like Django Girls Cape Town & Code Like Her, free events introducing women and girls to Software Engineering.
