Join Us for an Inspiring Founder Story: David Jacobson and the SYNAQ Journey

In 2004, David Jacobson embarked on a journey to revolutionize cloud computing communication services, co-founding SYNAQ with a vision of utilizing Linux and Open Source technology. SYNAQ swiftly became a pioneer, launching South Africa's first cloud-based email security platform in a time when the concept of "the cloud" was yet to become an industry buzzword.

The accolades soon followed, with Forbes Magazine recognizing SYNAQ as one of the Top 20 Tech companies in Africa in 2010. In 2011, Dimension Data acquired a majority stake in SYNAQ, leading to a successful collaboration that expanded SYNAQ's reach and impact.

Fast forward to 2023, and a significant development unfolded as David Jacobson orchestrated the buy-back of SYNAQ from Dimension Data. This strategic move was spurred by the acquisition of Dimension Data by Japan's Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) Corp, providing SYNAQ the opportunity to reclaim its independence.

David Jacobson, a thought-leader transitioning from Hacker to Biohacker, Tech Ninja to Entrepreneur, shared his vision, stating, "Our time with Dimension Data afforded us stability and support as we scaled. Now it's a new chapter, and we're excited about the future prospects independence affords us."

The Road Ahead: SYNAQ 3.0 and Beyond

SYNAQ's commitment to innovation continues to shine with the recent release of Securemail 3.0, featuring enhanced SPAM and Malware feeds, algorithm upgrades to LinkShield, ITP, and DLP. The organization's focus on Artificial Intelligence signifies a dedication to cutting-edge technology, utilizing large-scale data analysis and machine learning models for unparalleled threat detection capabilities.

As SYNAQ evolves, so does its commitment to advanced algorithms, deep learning, and natural language processing, ensuring state-of-the-art threat protection in an ever-evolving digital landscape.

The buy-back signals not only a return to independence but also the dawn of a new era for SYNAQ, marked by increased investment in innovation. David Jacobson emphasises, "This is a strategic move for the passionate people at SYNAQ who are deeply invested in the business and cloud security."
